In this article he shares the options he considered and why employee ownership was the best option for him and the future of the business he had worked so hard to build.
Tom Prosser, founder and CEO of Rainbow Companies, stated that the biggest consideration was how this transition would affect his employees. He explained, "As I considered these options, I could not overlook the fact that my company would not be what it is without the people who built it. And if I sold it, I would, in effect, be selling them. However, if I did an employee stock ownership plan or ESOP, I could sell it to them."
