On September 10, the Southeast Region Economic Development Professionals and DEED joined us for a presentation on employee ownership options for business owners who want to sell. This event featured Peter Schuller from A. B. Systems; Toni Kildow from ESI Equity and Sue Crockett from MNCEO.

Each of these speakers provided their perspective on employee ownership and even outlined the options available to current business owners in Minnesota. Sue covered employee ownership models such as Worker-Owned Cooperatives and Employee Ownership Trusts (EOT).  Taking a deeper dive, Peter and Toni shared what converting to an ESOP means for the selling owner, employees, and communities.  Employee ownership may be exactly what a retiring business owner is looking for in a succession plan strategy!
