Fifty by Fifty, is a movement focused on scaling up employee ownership and converting 50 million employee-owners in the US by 2050. On December 14th, 2020, this collaboration released a report outlining the effects of COVID-19 on businesses around the US and just how exactly impact capital could be the silver lining to the business sales and closures all over our country.

Within this report, researchers make four key recommendations to build a more robust employee ownership investment ecosystem:

  1. Develop new investment funds for employee ownership
  2. Ensure employee benefit through common metrics and deal guidelines
  3. Use employee-friendly approaches to value engineering
  4. Grow the market by supporting this developing ecosystem with catalytic capital and take it to scale through government policy.
